Built on a quiet
conviction
We believe a home isn't a project. It's a place where a family will live for decades, and it should be built that way.
Less like a contractor,
more like an atelier
Grand Builders was founded in 2019 by two carpenters who had spent two decades watching the construction industry trade craft for speed. Quotes that ballooned. Subcontractors who disappeared. Communication that died the moment the deposit cleared.
We started Grand Builders to do it differently. To run a firm where ownership is on every job site every week. Where the same hands that drew up your scope are the hands that hang your trim. Where "this is going to cost more" is a conversation, not a surprise.
Four years later, we've delivered over 150 projects across the Bay Area. We've grown our team deliberately, adding project managers, foremen, and craftspeople who share the standard, not just the workload. We've turned down work that didn't fit. And we've built a quiet reputation among architects, designers, and homeowners who care about the long view.
Five principles, kept
without exception
Ownership leads every project
A founder stays personally involved in every active project, alongside a dedicated project manager and site foreman who run the day-to-day. The people who shook your hand at the consultation are still the ones accountable at week sixteen, backed by a team that keeps the work moving.
Communication is the deliverable
Every project gets a weekly written update. Photos. Schedule. Spend-to-date. Any open questions. You should never wonder where your project stands, even if you've been traveling for three weeks.
The crew is the standard
We work with a small, vetted network of trades (electricians, plumbers, tile setters, painters) who've delivered with us for years. No revolving door. No lowest-bidder shortcuts. You get the same craftspeople every time.
Change orders are conversations
Things change. Walls open and reveal surprises. Materials get discontinued. We treat every change as a conversation about options and trade-offs, never as an opportunity to pad a bill.
The work outlives us
We build for permanence. The joint you can't see, the substrate behind the tile, the framing inside the wall: we build all of it as if a friend's family will live there for forty years. Because, often, they will.
Craft, up close
